About
Sam prosecutes a wide range of crime in the Auckland area, having joined MC as a law clerk in 2023. Most recently he has also assisted in the discovery process for a high-profile commercial claim against a Crown entity.
Prior to joining MC, Sam studied at the University of Auckland and interned in MC’s regulatory team. While at University, Sam focused on studying oral advocacy at a high level, representing Aotearoa New Zealand in multiple international competitions in Australia and the United States of America.
Recent Cases & Achievements
Sam wrote his Honours dissertation on the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine and, in particular, the degree to which Russia’s public statements accurately represented international law.
Sam’s research paper arguing for further support for Aotearoa New Zealand lawyers acting in official capacities in South Pacific island nations and advocating for further cooperation between the legal communities in New Zealand and other South Pacific nations was published in the 2023 edition of the Public Interest Law Journal.
